Gosia Cooks: Carnival roses and faworki

We have prepared for you a recipe for carnival roses and faworki – they look beautiful on a plate and taste even better. Suprise your guests with them!


INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups of wheat flour
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon of spirit
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
  • 5 tablespoons of thick sour cream
  • oil or lard for frying
  • powder sugar

Tips

In a bowl, mix flour with sugar and salt, add egg yolks, spirit and cream. Knead all ingredients into a uniform dough. Then we put the dough on the worktop and beat it with a wooden rolling pin for about 10-15 minutes.

Roll out the dough thinly on a surface lightly sprinkled with flour. Cut out discs of various sizes from the dough (I use cookie cutters, but you can also use a glass, etc.). We cut the discs in several places to form petals (quite deep, but not all the way to the center). Stack the 3 discs on top of each other from largest to smallest so that the cuts do not overlap. Press firmly in the center with your finger to make the circles stick together.

Place the roses into the hot oil with the smallest disc facing down. Fry in hot fat on both sides until golden (the oil should have a temperature of about 170 degrees). Remove with a slotted spoon and drain the fat on a paper towel. When cool, sprinkle generously with powdered sugar. Put some jam in the center of each rose.
